1.Who walked into the room that Hannah was in?
Justin and Jessica walked into the room that Hannah was in.

2.Why do you think Hannah did nothing to stop the rape?
Hannah did nothing to stop the rape because she was not able to think, Hannah was having an emotional meltdown.

3.Where was he hiding?
Hannah was hiding in a closet, behind the closet doors.

Hannah blames Justin for the girl being raped.

No, I had no idea Tony had anything to do with the tapes because he seemed like a random character in the book.

2.What number is Clay on the tapes?
Clay is number nine in the books.

3.How Is Clay Jenson described by most people, according to Hannah?
Clay Jenson is described as a nice person; nobody ever has anything bad to say about him.

4.Do you think Clay belongs in most “the list”? Why or why not?
No I do not thin Clay belongs on the tape, the tapes were supposed to be for those who had a part in Hannah’s suicide.

5.Why was Hannah so surprised that Clay was going to a party?
Hannah was surprised that Clay was going to a party because he never showed up at any parties.

Hannah was grounded because her grades were not doing so well.

7.Why was Hannah grounded? What did she do to go to the party?
Hannah was grounded because her grades were slipping. Hannah had to sneak out of her window to go to the party.

8.Describe Hannah and Clay’s conversation
Hannah and Clay had a great conversation. Hannah said that it seemed like Clay could know her, like he understood everything she said. The same things exited them, and the same things concerned them. Clay was asking questions, but they did not seem intrusive.

Hannah pushed Clay away because she did not want to add to her reputation.

Hannah stayed in the room because Justin and Jessica stumbled into the bedroom.

Hannah wrote poems to express her feelings.

2.Why do you think Tony is outside the dinner, just waiting?
I think Tony is outside the diner just waiting because he wants to talk to Clay.

3.What cause did Hannah join, and who was in that class?
Hannah joined the poetry class. Ryan Shaver was in the poetry class with her.

4.What did Ryan steal from Hannah?
Ryan stole one of Hannah’s poems.

5.What did he do with it?
Ryan stole Hannah’s poem, and published the poem in Lost-N-Found.

6.How do you think Hannah felt by having to listen to her poem be read over and over in class?
Hannah felt like people were dissecting parts of her.

chapter 9


1.Clay’s mom knows there something wrong with him, but she leaves him alone. Why do you think she did that?
I think Clays mom left Clay alone even though she knew something was wrong because she knew deep inside she knew he was not doing something that was up to no good.

2.Why was Peer Communication an important class for Hannah?
Peer communications at school was like Hannah’s safe haven at school.

3.What method did Mrs. Bradley use to have her student give their opinions about others?
Ms. Bradley had a brown bag for each student on a rack. Students were able to place little notes in each other’s bag saying whatever they wanted to say about each other. Students would usually give each other nice little compliments.

4.Who does Clay see at Rosie’s?
At Rosie’s Clay sees Tony.

5.What did Zach do to Hannah? And why do you think he did that to her?
Zach was taking out Hannah’s notes that were in her brown bag. I think Zach was doing that because he just was an immature little brat.

6.Why do you think Hannah wanted to change her appearance?
I think Hannah wanted to change her appearance because she wanted to be noticed. I also think she changed it because that is a sign of suicide. Hannah also did it without noticing that a change in appearance is a sign of suicide.

7.What did Hannah do to catch Zach taking her notes?
Hannah left herself a not in the brown bag to see if it would be there the next day.

8.Why do you think Zach didn’t apologize to Hannah?
I do not know why Zach did not apologize to Hannah.

9.Describe Hannah’s meltdown in the hall, and why it happened?
Hannah started crying and screaming to Zach why he had done what he did. Hannah had her melt down because she was sad and what Zach did made her feel horrible. It made her feel horrible because Hannah needed those notes of encouragement.

10.What are some warning signs of a suicidal individual?
Some warning signs of a suicidal individual are a sudden change in appearance, giving away personal belongings.

1.Tell me a time in your life where you can relate to Hannah, feeling of losing control of life?
I feel like I’m losing control when little things go wrong in my life. Little thing really bother me.

2.What does the Valentine survey have anything to do with the story?
The Valentine survey has to do with the story because it brings up the next person that is going to be talked about in the cassettes.

3.Who was her mysterious caller, describe him??
Marcus Cooley was the mysterious caller Marcus was one of the biggest goof-offs.

4.Why did Hannah not want to tell the cheerleader what happened at Rosie’s?
Hannah did not want to tell the cheerleader what happened at Rosie’s because what had happened at Rosie’s was not a good experience for Hannah.

5.Why is Clay’s mom worried about him?
Clay’s mom is worried about Clay because it was getting late and he had not called her to check in.

6.Why do you think nobody helped Hannah?
I think that nobody helped Hannah because that is just an awkward situation to be involved in.

1.Who is Courtney? Describe her?
Courtney Crimsen was a pretty girl, with pretty hair, pretty smile, and perfect skin. Courtney was also very nice.

2.How does Hannah see her?
Hannah saw Courtney as very sweet, and one of the most popular girls in school.

3.Do you know anyone who is always posed? How are they different in public or private?
Yes this girl named Stephanie that USED to be my friend was extremely fake.

4.How did Courtney affect Hannah?
Courtney affected Hannah because Courtney was pretending to get very close to Hannah, but Courtney was just grooming her to be another tally mark under the people who thought Courtney Crimsen is a really neat girl.

5.Why couldn’t people resist Courtney, have you tried to flirt your way to get what you wanted?
People were not able to resist Courtney because she what flirt her way to get what she wanted. Yes, I’ll admit I have done that before also.

6.Why is Clay so compelled to follow the map? Would you go to all the locations?
Clay feels so compelled to follow the map because he feels that tapes are not enough for him.

7.Who does Clay see in the bus? Who is she?
Clay saw his eight grade crush, Skye Miller.

8.Who does Clay see outside of Tyler’s house?
Outside Tyler’s house Clay sees Marcus Cooley from school.

9.Who broke Tyler’s window?
Alex was the first to break Tyler’s window.

10.Why does Hannah think Courtney used her?
Hannah thinks Courtney used her because Courtney had asked Hannah to show up at the party with her, but as soon as they got there, Courtney left Hannah.

11.What events happened at the party?
At the party a guy approached Hannah trying to talk to her, and said that Courtney had told him she was a fun girl to be with.

12.What did Courtney say about Hannah? And why do you think she said it?
Courtney told the guy that Hannah has got a few surprises buried in her dresser
drawers. I think Courtney said it, because she likes to gossip.

13.Do you think it was fair of Hannah to leave Courtney at the part without a ride? Why?
Yes I do think Hannah did the right thing by leaving Courtney because it was very obvious that Courtney was using Hannah for a ride.

1.What did Clay order at Monet’s and why?
Clay ordered coffee, because he is cheap.

2.Clay seems to be clueless why he is involved, make a prediction why?
I think Clay is not going to be involved in a bad way, but in a good way.

3.Who was Tyler?
Tyler was a boy from Hannah’s school who was apparently spying on Hannah through her window.

4.How was he described by Hannah?
Tyler was described as creepy.

5.Why was he in the tape?
Tyler was in the tape because he was a peeping Tom.

6.Where is Hannah recording this tape?
Hannah is recording the tape right outside Tyler’s window.

7.What did Tyler do outside of Hannah’s room?
Tyler would take pictures of Hannah, because he was a peeping Tom.

8.If a situation like this happened to you, would you ignore it? Why?
If I situation similar to Hannah’s happened to me, I would act calm, and go to my mother’s room and then call the cops.

9.Who would you tell?
I would tell my mother.

10.How would you avoid a stalker?
I would avoid a stalker by not kind of staying out of the spot light most of the time. I would also not tell anybody where I live, except for close friends.

11.What did Hannah’s dad do when he found out about the blinds?
Hannah’s dad went outside and made sure Hannah’s blind were at an angle where nobody could see inside her room.

12.How is Tyler’s window described?
Tyler’s shades were all the way down, yet you can still see in. The shades were made of bamboo, or fake bamboo, and between each stick are varying amounts of space.

13.Why did Hannah want to tell the girl in her class about the peeping tom?
Hannah wanted someone to be afraid for her; she also wanted someone to validate her fears.

14.Describe the girls plan to catch the peeping Tom?
The girls were talking about Hannah having something secret in her drawer to get Tyler exited, and surprise Tyler in that act.

15.What do you think of a stalker gets out from doing this?
I think that the stalker gets sexually exited from just looking at Hannah.

16.How do you think this will end?
I think that this will not end well; this is just too much of an awkward situation.

17.What could be the consequences if Tyler’s actions were reported to police?
If Tyler’s actions were reported to the police, Tyler would probably be sent to juvenile hall.

18.In what way did Tyler destroy Hannah’s “safe place”?
Hannah then twisted her blinds shit every night, each night she simply turned out the lights and went to bed. Her bedroom was supposed to be safer for her, but Tyler took that away.

19.What does Clay find in a book? And what does he notice?
Clay finds a book with words scribbled in red ink near the top that says “Everyone needs an olly-olly-oxen-free, with the initials J.D.A.S.H.B. He also found an upside down photograph.
